Oud (Oudh) By Hasan Oud-

The world has gone through some insane changes in the last year and it’s been a struggle for everyone, some more than others. We want to help.

Did you know our bodies give off chemosignals depending on our mood? For example, feeling happy gives off certain chemosignals which then can trigger other people around you to feel happy too. This is the same way smells can impact social situations, a person feeling scared is less likely to approach or trust someone while others are also less likely to approach them.

Our sense of smell is the most sensitive, it is linked to the part of the brain that is also connected to memories, feelings, mood and emotion, so it would make sense that certain smells can improve someone’s mood.

Who would have thought perfume could help everyone, even others around you?

We create our oils by testing them all on ourselves over months, we aim to create the perfect perfume oils for everyone. We use a range of notes including citrus, wood and spice to create uplifting scents.

Now let’s see why our Oudh attar is so recommended-

WHAT IS OUD?

Let’s start with what it is and where it comes from. The Oud, also known as Agarwood, is a highly precious resin that identifies the perfumes of the Middle East. This aroma gives life to heady fragrances that evoke strong and intense smells.

The Oud is produced from trees of the genus Aquilaria, belonging to the Thymelaceae family, when they are contaminated by a particular mould. The tree rejects this aggression producing the resin. In this way, the wood remains protected. The resinous heart of the wood goes from soft and odourless to dark and aromatic, to curb mould growth. The infection progresses from the trunk to the roots making the tree dark brown or black.

Workers cut the pieces of the infected trunk into small flakes that are used to extract the resin. They dip the flakes in the water for a few days. Then they are left to dry for 2 or 3 days. Finally, they extract the resin using different methods, that allow obtaining oils of different quality. The final product is an essential oil with a woody and enveloping scent, while the remaining wood can be left to dry to make incense.

WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE?

Oud is vastly admired by perfumers. Oud Wood is smoking with a wonderful scent for its sweetened, woody, aromatic and complex scent. It is used in form of oud oil or raisin. The oil of oud, whether extracted by distillation from wood, or by melting the raisin, is non-irritating and can be applied directly on the skin, or added in a perfume composition, most often as a base note.

IMPORTANCE OF OUD

The resin that comes from the infected wood, Oud wood smoking in a metal jar has such a wonderful scent it is valued by many cultures for the natural and distinctive fragrance. Many people use Oud to naturally scent perfumes. The species of tree that can produce Agarwood oil is becoming rarer and so oud oil is becoming a precious commodity.
